UPCOMING WORKSHOPS 

The workshops are specifically focused on Visual Arts, allowing us to move beyond general teaching strategies and explore the particular questions, challenges and opportunities that arise in the MYP Visual Arts classroom. This makes the learning directly relevant and gives teachers the opportunity to develop ideas they can take back into their own studios, classrooms, units and curriculum. 

01 — ASSESSMENT

MYP Visual Arts eAssessment 

Monday, 5 October 2026 14:00–17:15 CET · Online via Zoom Maximum 20 participants · $75 

Year 5 eAssessment · Assessment · Student preparation 

This three-session workshop is designed for MYP Visual Arts teachers seeking a clear and practical understanding of the Year 5 MYP Arts eAssessment, with a focus on planning, delivery, assessment and student preparation. 

There will also be time for individual questions and collaborative discussion. 

Develop a clear understanding of MYP Arts eAssessment and its requirements, explore practical strategies for supporting students through documentation, reflection and presentation, and apply this learning to your own units, assessment approaches and student work. Participants will consider how eAssessment can be effectively embedded into classroom practice while supporting standardisation, moderation and meaningful student achievement.

02 — CRITERIA 

Investigating in MYP Visual Arts Criterion A 

Friday, 23 October 2026 14:00–17:15 CET · Online via Zoom Maximum 20 participants · $75 .

This three-session workshop supports MYP Visual Arts teachers in developing assessment literacy around Criterion A: Investigating, with a focus on inquiry-based learning, conceptual understanding, contextual research and meaningful documentation. 

Explore the purpose and potential of Criterion A in MYP Visual Arts, considering how inquiry, conceptual thinking, contextual research and visual analysis can create meaningful investigative learning. Participants will explore strategies for designing concept-driven experiences and supporting students to research, analyse, question and respond to visual and contextual sources, while developing and assessing ATL skills through the process journal and Criterion A evidence.

03 — CURRICULUM & UNIT DESIGN 

Designing Inquiry-Driven Units in MYP Visual Arts 

Friday, 4 December 2026 14:00–17:15 CET · Online via Zoom Maximum 20 participants · $75

This three-session workshop supports MYP Visual Arts teachers in designing inquiry-driven, concept-based units that connect IB expectations with student engagement, agency and meaningful artistic practice. 

Explore inquiry-driven and concept-based unit design, considering how concepts, global contexts, assessment criteria and student interests can work together to create purposeful learning. Participants will examine how learning experiences, ATL skills and assessment can be meaningfully aligned, then apply these ideas to an existing or developing unit by refining inquiry questions, assessment tasks and opportunities for student agency and conceptual understanding.

04 — CURRICULUM ALIGNMENT 

Backward Planning in Visual Arts From MYP to IB Diploma 

Friday, 22 January 2027 14:00–17:15 CET · Online via Zoom Maximum 20 participants.  MYP–DP alignment · Curriculum mapping · Progression · Artistic practice 

This three-session workshop is designed for IB Visual Arts educators responsible for curriculum development and alignment between MYP and IB Diploma. 

Using a backward-planning approach, participants will explore how to identify key Diploma assessment requirements and use these to inform MYP curriculum design. The workshop considers how inquiry, conceptual understanding, reflection, documentation and artistic practice can be progressively developed so that students are better prepared for the expectations of the IB Diploma. 

Explore key IB Diploma Visual Arts expectations and consider how MYP teaching can intentionally prepare students for the next stage of their learning. Participants will examine how backward planning can inform MYP 4 and MYP 5 unit design, strengthening inquiry, conceptual understanding, reflection, documentation and increasingly independent artistic practice. These ideas will then be applied to participants' own curriculum and unit plans to identify opportunities for stronger MYP–DP alignment.

FURTHER WORKSHOP INFORMATION WORKSHOP STRUCTURE 

All workshops follow a simple EXPLORE → APPLY → DEVELOP → REFLECT learning approach, designed specifically for MYP Visual Arts educators. 

Participants first EXPLORE the focus of the workshop together, APPLY ideas to their own Visual Arts teaching practice, and DEVELOP them further through their own units, assessments or curriculum planning. Teachers then REFLECT on their learning, share ideas and consider how they might take them forward in their own Visual Arts practice. 

This approach reflects the practical and inquiry-based nature of IB professional learning, where teachers are encouraged to explore ideas, connect learning to classroom practice, collaborate with colleagues and reflect on their learning.
